About Elizabeth Park

Elizabeth Park is one of the best-kept secrets in the City of Akron. Located on Lods St., Elizabeth Park is adjacent to Howard St., the site of Akron's Historic Jazz until 1970. Across from the Ohio-Erie Canal & Cascade Locks Park and just below the first station of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park's Scenic Valley Railway, Elizabeth Park is an important part of the Cascade Valley neighborhood. It is part of Cascade Village and sits on the Little Cuyahoga River. In 2019, residents and community stakeholders won the Akron Parks Challenge, guaranteeing over $100K for improvements. Other organizations joined, committing more than $30K in grants and donations. Improvements include a new pavilion, a nature play area, and a half-acre food forest.

Not a bad park, but it could be SO MUCH MORE! I am a long term local resident and with all the cleaning up Akron has been doing it needs more tourist hot spots. Places like Lock 15 and the Courtyard, The Scenic Railroad etc bring quite a bit of people to this area. What better than some more work to the parks through the Akron Valley too! Elizabeth Park is a fine example of a potential goldmine for more "foot traffic" literally. With everything going on down here with the lock parks and the canal trail all you need is a couple more amazing parks to cap it off. For example with the bridge being right there and the courts not being used often. Put a "all weather" cover on the courts. No... No need to enclose them. There are plenty of indoor places to go. But there no places or parks outside when its raining or snowing etc etc. That would stand out. Perhaps even consider redoing the playground with a skip style park and walkway / hiking trail along the water way? It would be really cool to see, even if it was short and rode along just one side down to were you guys put in the Otto St. Passenger Bridge. Or if it went East at all alongside the Little Cuyahoga. That would be really neat

Hidden Jen of Akron! This place is so amazing! Just wish someone helped with the trash disposal… All the bins are full so there’s trash everywhere
